He went through many hard struggles with his colleagues in building Tokopedia to become as big as it is now.[8] Here's an inspirational story of how William Tanuwijaya struggled as Tokopedia founder.

William Tanuwijaya was born in the city of Pematang Siantar, North Sumatra on November 18, 1981.[1] He attended high school in his hometown, and for 18 years in his hometown.[2] [9]

Study in Jakarta

After graduating from high school he then ventured to leave for the capital, Jakarta, to go to college.[3] He was accepted at Bina Nusantara University (BINUS) Jakarta.[4]

Become a cafe keeper

During college, he was diligent in finding side jobs to finance his studies. When he entered the second semester on his campus, then he worked in Warnet from 9pm to 9am. After graduating from his campus, BINUS, he later worked in an office engaged in developing computer software.[5] But over time began to take an idea in the mind of William Tauwijaya to establish his own company. Where his dream is to have his own internet company.
Tokopedia Startup Establishment Ideas
In the Biography of William Tanuwijaya, it was known that his idea of Tokopedia came when he was a moderator in the Kafegaul online forum which had a trading facility. From here he then began to be inspired by this to create a new startup which he later named Tokopedia. In 2007, from his idea he then started to build Tokopedia. He invited his friend, Leontinus Alpha Edison to establish Tokopedia,[6] an online buying and selling startup that connects sellers and buyers throughout Indonesia for free. To build the tokopedia, William Tanuwijaya needed a large capital for the idea, the situation was increasingly difficult when his father was convicted of cancer so that he became the backbone of earning a living for the family. Realizing that his idea must have succeeded, he then tried to find funding [11] or capital to develop his business to learn from Google and Facebook established through funding for startups through venture companies (financiers). William Tanuwijaya then went to one by one the people he knew to capitalize on the idea. From the boss at work to the acquaintance of his boss's friends. He then began to tell about Tokopedia, an online or e-commerce marketplace where sellers and buyers meet from all over Indonesia. A place where people can market their products throughout Indonesia through Tokopedia. Tokopedia is also an online buying and selling broker that is safe for its users. So that the idea can solve marketplace problems experienced in Indonesia.
For two years, he worked hard continuously looking for investors to finance his opedia Tokopedia ’idea.[7] Many investors are asking about William Tanuwijaya's experience in doing business. Many also consider that the dream is too high. This is where the capital regarding trust according to him is very important because it is very difficult for him to get the trust of others especially to start the business. Everything he did from Zero to build his business. Until then William Tanuwijaya's efforts for two years finally paid off, precisely in 2009, on February 6, 2009, William Tanuwijaya's Tokopedia was officially established and on Indonesia's independence day on August 17, 2009
